Fethiye Turkey
Makri was its former name when it received from the mainland Greece and the Greek Islands a large Turkish population under the terms of the 1923 exchange of populations between Greece and Turkey. The name was changed to Fethiye in 1934 to honor of Fethi Bey who was one of the first pilots of the Ottoman Air Force. They were killed during an early mission.
